What is RUB?

Reeve Union Board is a student-run organization that provides quality programming while entertaining and appealing to a wide campus audience. Working with funds from students, RUB organizes and executes large events including homecoming, major concerts and comedians, movies and other special events. With five committees, it's easy to select and get involved in each specific area of interest. RUB operates as more than just a group of students, but as a resource for other students to grow, lead and have fun!

Reeve Union Board will hosts its annual Halloween Carnival 4 p.m. to 6 p.m Thurs. Oct. 29 in the Titan Underground featuring trick-or-treat candy giveaways and spooky carnival games.

The event caters to children under 10 and allows UW Oshkosh student organizations to lend a hand back to the community and show Halloween spirit at the same time. To register for a table and game visit, http://reeve.uwosh.edu/get-involved/rub/halloween-carnival-registration.

Student organziations can host a candy table with a carnival game for children or they can simply participate with a candy table.

Games executed last year:

  • Pumpkin Toss
  • Craft making
  • Pumpkin painting
  • Bag toss
  • Pick a duck
  • Cauldron toss

Because of the great response last year, there will also be a costume contest/Halloween spirit contest awarded to the organization that not only has great costumes, but decorates their candy table with Halloween flare. This spirit will be voted on by your fellow student organizations and the children at the event. The winner receives a pizza party for a meeting of their choice.

Reeve Union Board wins Regional Award

RUB has won the 2009 Innovative Programming Award for the NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) Northern Plains Region. The winning event, Titan Gladiators, was featured during Homecoming 2008 and tested student, staff and faculty in the joust, the obstacle course and other competitive events.

The Innovative Programming Award is presented to a member institution for an innovative program conceived by the campus. The award is based on student involvement, creativity and the success of the program, as determined by the achievement of stated program goals.

RUB Committees

  • Cinema - responsible for the "Big Screen Theater" which features current blockbuster hits, classic and cult favorites which are shown in the Union Theater every other weekend.
  • Concerts - responsible for bringing nationally touring musical acts and major comedians to UW Oshkosh.
  • Creative Leisure - responsible for planing hands-on arts and crafts activities, trips and athletic pride initiatives. Annual events include Films on the Fox, Student Art Contest and Student Writing Contest.
  • Music & Variety - responsible for programming musical acts, the annual Battle of the Bands competition and comedians and hypnotists.
  • Special Events - responsible for coordinating major traditional events on campus each year including Homecoming, Winter Carnival and the end-of-the-year celebration, Bye Gosh Fest.
