TitanCard Policies

TitanCard Issuance Process and Requirements

To receive a TitanCard, you will be asked to present proof of identification, in person, at Titan Central, located in Reeve Union. Only original documents will be accepted. There is a $20.00 fee to obtain a TitanCard.

Patrons will be asked to present a valid government issued ID, from the following list:

  • US/Foreign Passport or Passport Card

  • US State Driver's License or Identification Card

  • US Military Identification Card, including Military Dependent's ID Card

  • US Coast Guard Merchant Marine Card

If you do not have one of the forms of valid government ID mentioned above, you may alternatively present two forms of ID from the following list:

  • High School Photo ID

  • Credit Card with Photo

  • Social Security Card

  • Certified UW Transcript

  • Certified Birth Certificate

  • Certified Marriage License

  • Military Discharge DD214

UW Oshkosh offers a “preferred name” option for students. Preferred name is a service for students who wish to be known by a name other than their primary/legal name. Learn more about it here

Picture Guidelines

Every TitanCard must have a current photo. In order to maintain a current, up to date database, a new photo will be taken each time a new or replacement card is made.

All photos will be:

  • Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera.

  • Taken in clothing that you normally wear on a daily basis.

  • Taken with no hats or head coverings unless worn daily for religious purposes.  Your full face must be visible and the head covering must not cast any shadows on your face.

    • Head coverings are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, or with approval by Titan Central manager on a case-by-case basis, provided the head covering does not:

      • Obscure a full front view of the face.

      • Display any graphic design other than the overall pattern of the fabric or material.

      • A person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that does not permit adequate identification is not acceptable.

    • Special accommodations will be made to obtain such picture.

  • Taken with no headphones, wireless hands-free devices or similar items.

  • Glasses may be worn if they do not obscure the face and/or prevent an accurate picture from being taken. Tinted glasses or sunglasses will not be allowed.

Titan Dollars

The following are some important characteristics regarding Titan Dollars:

  • Purchases are debited (deducted from the balance) each time a purchase is made.

  • Purchases cannot exceed your account balance.

  • Purchases can only be made at on-campus venues including laundry and soda and snack vending machines.

  • Cash cannot be withdrawn from your Titan Dollar account.

  • Titan Dollars cannot be used to purchase alcohol.

Deposits - Titan Dollars

Deposits to your Titan Dollar account are accepted in the form of cash, check, money order or credit card.  Checks and money orders must be made payable to UW Oshkosh and should include your student ID number.  Titan Dollars can be deposited in the following manner:

  • In person at Titan Central located in Reeve Memorial Union

  • Use the self-serve deposit station in Scott Hall that accepts $1, $5, $10 and $20 dollar bills

  • By telephone at (920) 424-1234 (credit card only)

Online Deposits (GET Funds)

As a convenience for students and parents, Titan Dollars can now be added online at any time of the day. GET Funds is a feature that allows students or guests to make a Titan Dollar deposit via credit card from the convenience of their own computer. This new program will also provide the ability to view your balance, check transaction history and report a lost TitanCard. There will be a $2.00 fee per deposit. Refunds - Titan Dollars

Cardholders who have left the University (withdrawal, transferred, graduation or ended employment) can apply for a Titan Dollar Refund Request Form Remaining Titan Dollars will first be credited toward any outstanding student account balance, per the Titan Central Manager’s discretion. Refunds will be processed and disbursed through the Student Account’s office.

Unused Balances - Titan Dollars

Titan Dollars are valid until the last Friday of each Spring Interim in June. After that date, any remaining Titan Dollars on your TitanCard are forfeited. You can purchase a UW Oshkosh Gift Card before the end of Spring Interim with unused Titan Dollars, which is valid for 5 years after the date of purchase and can be used in the same manner as Titan Dollars.

Payments to Student Account-Titan Dollars & Gift Card Dollars

Student account payments using Titan Dollars or UW Oshkosh Gift Cards are limited to $25 per semester to avoid improper use and transfer of funds between campus accounts. The $25 amount is meant to be a convenience for students to pay small denominated amounts through the Cashier’s office.

Charging Titan Dollars to Student Account

Students are allowed to charge up to $500.00 in Titan Dollars to their student accounts per semester. Titan Dollars deposited as part of the $150 allocation will count toward your $500 limit. Students who wish to charge Titan Dollars to their student account must have an account that is in good standing; meaning there are no financial holds on your student account. If you do have a financial hold, and wish to charge Titan Dollar to your student account, please follow up with the student account office to resolve the financial hold.

Requests for Exemption from $150 Titan Dollar Program

Students who live in the residence halls automatically receive $150 Titan dollars each semester to use for conveniences and amenities on campus (i.e. - laundry, food, books, etc.).  This is a condition of signing the residence hall contract.  The charge for Titan Dollars appears on the student account each semester the student lives on campus.  

Titan Dollars carry over from Fall Semester to Spring Semester, but you must use your Titan Dollars by the last Friday of Spring Interim each year or they will be forfeited. UW Oshkosh Gift Cards, which are valid for 5 years after the date of purchase, may be purchased with unused Titan Dollars before the end of Spring Interim and can be used in the same manner as Titan Dollars.  This allows the student to use their Titan Dollars for the following Fall Semester for conveniences and campus amenities.  Visit reeve.uwosh.edu/titancard for a full list of venues that accept Titan Dollars.

We consider each request individually but some typical reasons why exemptions have been granted in the past have been:

  • If the student received a Titan Dollar Scholarship.

  • Student has an unexpected medical condition that prohibits attendance at school for an extended period of time.

Requests for exemption from the Titan Dollar requirement may be directed the Director of Reeve Memorial Union/University Dining (ph. 424-2346).

Care for Your TitanCard

To protect your TitanCard, treat it with the same care as you would your driver’s license or a credit card. Damaging or altering the card is prohibited including, but not limited to, punching holes in or affixing stickers to the card. The cardholder is responsible for replacement costs when a card becomes damaged and is unusable. Titan Dollars will transfer to the cardholder's new card. The cost of a replacement TitanCard is $20.

Replacement Cards

A replacement card will be provided at no charge under the following circumstances:

  • Name change (must be verified with Registrar/PeopleSoft).

  • Change of university status (i.e., student to staff).

  • Defective card (at the discretion of Titan Central Manager).

Lost/Stolen Cards

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is not liable for the TitanCard after it has been issued. The authorized cardholder should immediately report loss or theft of a TitanCard to Titan Central or they can do so online by going to the online deposits and following the instructions provided. The cardholder is liable for Titan Dollars spent until Titan Central receives notice. If you find your card you must physically bring it to Titan Central to remove the hold. Otherwise, a replacement card may be obtained from Titan Central with a valid government issued photo ID (Driver's License, State Identification Card, Passport or Military Identification Card). The cost for a new TitanCard is $20 for lost or stolen cards.

Period of Validity/Card Security

The TitanCard is valid throughout the cardholder's length of registration/employment at the University (exception applies to authorized guests). The TitanCard is the property of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, which reserves the right to revoke its use or any accounts at any time. The TitanCard may only be used by the person to whom it is registered and is not transferable. If an unauthorized user presents a TitanCard to a cashier, the card will be confiscated. The University reserves the right to close any account that has been inactive for a period of 12 months.
